Although I'm not a believer in any established religion, I totally agree with the statements below (with two minor changes).

1. The masculine pronoun must go... God is not a He. This is a construct that was invented.
2. An encouraging parent means believers will remain children - when will they become adults? We can't function in a society efficiently if we have infant minds and adult bodies, so it stands to reason that our spiritual development should mirror our physical development and when this doesn’t occur, we will be deficient physically, mentally, spiritually, and the effects will be manifested socially.
   
   If they respect the results of modern science, and indeed the best of modern biblical research, "Religious Believers" must move away from the notion of a dictator God or a designer God, a Newtonian God who made the universe as a watch that ticks along regularly.
   
   God should be seen more as an encouraging parent. God in his infinite freedom continuously creates a world that reflects that freedom at all levels of the evolutionary process to greater and greater complexity. He is not continually intervening, but rather allows, participates, loves.

Evolution is a religion? I didn't know!

Recently James Manning, Rebecca, and a few other notable bloggers have been talking about ID. Although I realized early on that the discussion wasn’t going anywhere since it was clear that everyone was only interested in getting their point across without fully taking into account anybody else’s point. Not to get into too many details because the links are listed below for anyone who is interested in the discussion.

When it comes to Republican and moderates, I find that their views are not always based on reality, at least not my reality. Anyway, although James Manning is a Democrat apparently the discussions from the moderates interest him immensely. So, while visiting his site, I made an interesting, but disturbing discovery about some proponents of ID.

• Did you know that some people (Moderates & Republicans) don’t know the difference between religion and evolution?

• Did you know that some people believe liberals worship Darwinism?

Had I known this going into the debate, I would have avoided it like a plague. If anyone is interested in the discussions - James Manning talks about ID here, here, here and here. The conversation originated on Rebecca's blog because of the latest incidence in the Kansas school system. You can read all about it here, here, and here.

I walked away thinking I was so naïve not to know there were people who believed this. Surely, I thought, every adult in America should know the difference between religion and science. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Secret Prisons

"The CIA is holding an unknown number of prisoners in secret detention centers abroad. In violation of the Geneva Conventions, it has refused to register those detainees with the International Red Cross or to allow visits by its inspectors. Its prisoners have 'disappeared,' like the victims of some dictatorships." -- The Washington Post.

To me, Octavia Butler is a Godess. She is by far one of the best Sci-Fi writers who ever lived.

The Washington Post has called Octavia Butler “one of the finest voices in fiction period. A master storyteller who casts an unflinching eye on racism, sexism, poverty and ignorance and lets the reader see the terror and beauty of human nature.” Octavia has described herself as an outsider, and "a pessimist, a feminist always, a Black, a quiet egoist, a former Baptist, and an oil-and-water combination of ambition, laziness, insecurity, certainty, and drive."

More Ohio Irregularities...

I'm beginning to think voting is an exercise in futility for Americans.

Four statewide referenda aimed at reforming Ohio's electoral process have been defeated in a manner that is (again) totally inconsistent with polling data, One statewide referendum, aimed at handing the corrupt Taft Administration a $2 billion windfall, has allegedly passed, again in a manner totally inconsistent with polling data, or even a rudimentary assessment of Ohio politics.

Powerful Government Accountability Office report confirms key 2004 stolen election findings

Excerpt

As a legal noose appears to be tightening around the Bush/Cheney/Rove inner circle, a shocking government report (GAO) now confirms that electronic voting machines as deployed in 2004 were in fact perfectly engineered to allow a very small number of partisans with minimal computer skills and equipment to shift enough votes to put George W. Bush back in the White House.

Can you really be shocked by the GAO report when the investigation into the 2000 Presidential election showed that Bush/Cheney didn’t win the first time around? I guess this demonstrates in America that your vote isn't worth the ballot it is cast on.

Since the past two elections were stolen, everything that Bush & Cheney have done should be reversed. However, I'm sure the damage is so grave, it will take a long time for things to even out.
