Confessions of an Economic Hit Man
Last Friday (Feb. 3rd) I went to
Transitions BookPlace and heard John Perkins speak. He is a really interesting person. I bought his book and got it autographed.
Here is a synopsis of his book. I think it is a must read...
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man: John Perkins was one of many highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the world (Poor Countries) out of trillions of dollars by lending them more money than they could possibly repay and then take over their economies. Their tools include fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoff, extortion, sex, and murder.
As an economic hit man for an international consulting firm, he convinced developing countries to accept enormous loans and to funnel that money to U.S. corporations. The American government and international aid agencies then requested their "pound of flesh," including access to natural resources, military cooperation, and political support.
